One of the areas of focus of the Polish Geological Survey, whose tasks are performed by the Polish Geological Institute (PGI), is the Geodiversity Conservation and Geotourism Programme. Experienced specialists from the regional offices of the Institute involved in the programme across Poland carry out responsibilities related to the conservation of geodiversity in a broad sense in the country, and promote the development of geotourism.


SERVICES

We prepare the following:

  • geopark programmes
  • designs of geological trails, both in the field and virtual ones
  • programmes for managing geological tourist attractions
  • geological information boards
  • geotourism maps
  • brochures, leaflets, catalogues and geotourism guidebooks
  • specialist reports, appraisals and evaluations of geological sites
  • analysis of the geotourism potential of geographical regions and administrative areas in the country

 

We provide consultancy assistance in:

  • developing plans to protect geodiversity
  • preparing information about the geological value of tourist trails
  • submitting geopark applications
  • organizing geotourism events – picnics, festivals, tours

 

We offer:

  • training in developing geotourism sites
  • consultancy and assessment of the commune geotourism potential for local land-use planning
  • professional support during the process of applying for funds for developing geotourism in regions
  • including interesting geological sites in the Polish Central Register of Geosites
  • scientific consultancy in relation to publications, films and educational programmes about geology and geotourism

 

We cooperate with:

  • local governments
  • regional directorates for environmental protection
  • directorates of national parks and landscape parks
  • Polish Chamber of Tourism and regional tourism organizations
  • environmental organizations
  • representatives of the tourism industry
  • all interested in conserving geodiversity and organizing geotourism in Poland
