On May 28-29, 2024, Kraków hosted an industry event entitled Europe Regional Conference 2024 (ERC24), organised by the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG). The theme of the conference was Energy Transition: Is the European Approach Different?).
The Boreholes subsystem of the Central Geological Database (CBDG) is one of the most important digital resources of PGI-NRI. It stores information on drilling performed in Poland from the end of the 19th century to the present.
The important discovery was made by a research team as part of a National Science Centre project led by the Polish Geological Institute-NRI. During work in an active red sandstone quarry near Nowa Ruda, foot and tail prints of an amphibian from 300 million years ago were found. The results were published in the journal Biology Letters.
On May 7-10, 2024, employees of the Upper Silesian Branch of PGI-NRI in Sosnowiec stayed in Oviedo, Spain, where they took part in a meeting of REM project partners and the European Coal in Transition workshops: Rising like a phoenix, organised by EURACOAL and the European Research Executive Agency (REA).
