We cordially invite you to the 5th Symposium on Mesoz oic and Cenozoic Decapod Crustaceans which will be held on June 25-27, 2013 at the AGH University of Science and Technology (AGH UST) in Kraków, Poland, al. Mickiewicza 30. Kraków is very close to Ox fordian limestone outcrops of the Kraków-Częstochowa Jura Upland, which are relatively rich in decapods – mainly crabs – connected with Late Jurassic sponge buildups of the peri-Tethyan epicontinental sea. Moreover, Kraków is one of the most picturesque old town of the southern Poland, full of histo rical monuments, museums and galleries.

Oral and post er sessions (25th June 2013)
All speakers of oral pre sentations will be allocated 20 minutes for their presentation including th e discussion. Facilities in the lecture room will include 2 multimedia proj ectors. If you prepare PowerPoint presentation, please prepare, two copies of it – both in pendrive and CD plate, which we will be used in our local c omputer, for better guarantee to work smoothly. The available space for pos ters is 1.5 m high x 1 m wide. The poster display will take place close to the lecture room (or inside in it) and will be open during whole scientific session.
Language
English will be the o fficial language of the Symposium.
Abstract volume and publica tion
The enlarged abstracts [max. 2 standard pages in
cluding tables, figures and references; in "doc" files only; with name(s) o
f the Author(s) with their affiliation(s), mailing and e-mail address(es)]
will be published in a Symposium volume published by the Polish Geological
Institute – National Research Institute. Both oral and poster presentations
will qualify for inclusion. All paying participants will receive this volu
me.
The publication of the Symposium proceedings is planned in the for
m of a special volume of one of the international peer-reviewed Polish geol
ogical journals (e.g. Geological Quarterly, Acta Palaeontologi
ca Polonica). The choose of journals depends on your activity and read
y papers. The manuscripts are accepted in English. Please, use simple text
(1.5 lined, 12 points font size) in MS Word, with indicated position of tab
les (in MS Excel format) and pictures (*.TIF or *.JPG format). Deliver your
text(s) by e-mail or CD.
Deadline of the manuscripts – June 25th, 20 13.
Notice: No manuscripts can be accepted after the stated d eadline.
Field trip
First day of the field trip (June 26th) will focus to Callovian and especially Oxfordian limestones of the Kraków-Częstochowa Jura Upland, which are relatively rich in decapods – mainly crabs – connected with Late Jurassic sponge buildups of the peri-Tethyan epicontinental sea.
Second day of the fie ld trip (June 27th) will be related to the latest Juras sic/earliest Cretaceous so-called Štramberk-type coral-bearing limestones o f the Outer Flysch Carpathians (Štramberk, Czech Republic), which occur now as huge olistoliths within Late Cretaceous flysch deposits. We will visit famous Kotouč quarry where decapod crustaceans are sometimes abundant.

Kraków can be reached by plane, train and/or bus; from Warsaw by exp ress train within 2-2.5 hours to Kraków central station.
The organize rs cannot accept responsibility for accidents that might occur in connectio n with the symposium and field trip. Delegates are encouraged to purchase t ravel insurance. Detailed travel instructions with maps will follow with th e 4th Circular.
