SUMMARY:EGS S-Bridge Warsaw Conference - Shale Gas as a Bridge Energy Carrier from Fossil Fuels to Green Energy
LOCATION:Conference Center Copernicus (CN Kopernik), Wybrzeże Kościuszkowskie 20, Wa
 rsaw, Poland
DESCRIPTION;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:<p>&nbsp;</p><p><a href="http://shalegas-bridge.pl/" target="_blank"><img s
 rc="images/stories/kalendarium/2013/banner_shalegas_m.jpg" alt="banner shal
 egas m" width="490" height="185" /></a>&nbsp;</p><p><span style="color: #80
 0000;"></span></p><p><span style="color: #800000;"><strong>Importance of sh
ale gas as a bridge energy carrier</strong></span></p><p>The current growth
in production of natural gas from unconventional resources has significant
ly influenced the economies of primarily two countries: The United States a
nd Canada. It is expected that this trend will continue along with start of
production of shale gas in other parts of the world, including Europe.</p>
<p><br />An increase in natural gas production in our region would be highl
y advantageous due to reduction of dependence on import and a drop in the p
rices of energy. Additionally the increase would facilitate de-carbonificat
ion of the energy sector which is still mainly based on coal in some countr
ies.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Plans of transition from fossil fuels to a renewabl
e energy supply remain complicated. Therefore, natural gas from unconventio
nal resources may turn out to be the most promising bridge energy carrier u
ntil fossil fuels are replaced by energy sources of a new type.</p><p>&nbsp
;</p><p>This Conference will shed some new light on chances for the safe an
d sustainable use of shale gas as well as its future role in the forecasted
energy budget of individual countries, especially in Europe.</p><p>&nbsp;<
