Prof. Stanisław Mikulski PhD habil. of the Polish Geological Institute-NRI, who until now served as vice-president of the Society for Geology Applied to Mineral Deposits (SGA), was elected president of this organisation.
In the main hall of the Geological Museum of the Polish Geological Institute - PIB at ul. Rakowiecka 4 in Warsaw a new temporary exhibition has opened.
Polish Geological Institute-National Research Institute (PGI-NRI) has been actively supporting geologists from African countries for a decade. Implementing the PanAfGeo project initiated by the EuroGeoSurveys (EGS), it organises training courses on geodiversity conservation and educates geologists on geology of mineral resources, geochemistry or geothermal geology.
In September 2023, the Polish Geological Institute-National Research Institute (PGI-NRI) together with the NORCE Norwegian Research Centre (NORCE) launched a project called Optimization of Shallow Geothermal Energy Resources for Green Transition (OptiSGE), financed by the Fund for Bilateral Relations, European Economic Area (EEA) Financial Mechanism 2014-2021, and the Norwegian Financial Mechanism 2014–2021.
