Its objective was to discuss the accomplishments in the domain of petrology, mineralogy and geochemistry.

The conference addressed the following issues: diagenetic processes, sedimentation processes, petrography and geochemistry of organic matter, creation of deposits, isotopic research, analytical methods.

The conference addressed the issue of CO2 storage conditions from the perspective of processes ongoing between the surrounding rock and gas. Various types of mineralization in the Carpathians were also discussed, including a presentation of a new discoveries or the occurrence of minerals (goyazite, crystalline gypsum, respectively). New and/or complementary analytical methods, applied both in deposit and mineral strict sense studies, were presented.

Sessions held on the first day of conference

Great emphasis was also put on issues related to researching organic matter, both from the perspective of its thermal maturity and relation to deposit accumulations, whether these are metal ores or hydrocarbons.

The results of mineralogical-petrographic and isotopic studies of minerals originating from the Świętokrzyskie Mountains (including apatite dating) were also presented during the session. Paper and poster presentations were devoted to sedimentary rock diagenesis and porous space development (e.g., silicoclastic rocks of the Triassic and Jurassic of the Łódź-Miechów Trough or Triassic limestones of western Poland).

The scope of raised issues exceeded beyond the borders of Poland. The currently forming secondary mineralization was discussed during the conference on the example of minerals from a mine in Romania. Mining-related environmental issues in northern Scandinavia were also discussed, touching the issue of geoheritage in Norway.

Second day of the conference

Author’s presentations during the conference were reflected in publications in the Przegląd Geologiczny (Prz. Geol. vol.71 (4): 163-244 and Prz. Geol. vol. 71 (5).

83 persons in total, with 17 actively, participated in the on-line conference. 16 lectures were delivered and 6 posters were presented (a total of 22 presentations). 50-56 persons and up to 50 persons were present in the virtual room on June 1 and 2, respectively.
