Act on coal mining operations amended

The Act on amendment of Coal Mining Operations Act and of certain other Acts has been published in the Official Journal.


The Act on amendment of Coal Mining Operations Act and of certain other Acts., as adopted by the Parliament of Poland, has been published in the Official Journal. The key purpose of the amendment was to change the provisions of the following Acts:

  • on coal mining operations,
  • on grants intended for specific entities,
  • on special rights of the minister in charge of State Treasury and their exercise in certain companies that operate in energy generation, oil and gas fuel sectors.

The changes will enable disbursement of funds for the financing of:

  • mine abandonment operations,
  • shielding benefits – voluntary mining leaves and voluntary leaves for mechanical coal processing employees,
  • current loss on production relief,

The Act provides for a higher budget allocations to the continued sector restructuring and for a transfer of special rights in power generation, oil and gas fuel sector companies from the minister in charge of State Treasury to the minister in charge of energy.

The Act extended the term of financing “Bochnia” Salt Mine operations from a State budget grant and enabled the financing of “Machów” Sulphur Mine operations at Piaseczno mining site on its abandonment.
