Copper and silver - export and import

Considering extensive and still expanding range of application of copper and its alloys, as well as limited availability of recoverable copper deposits, copper has been and will be one of the most important metal traded on international markets.

The global trend is reflected by Poland’s exports of metallic raw materials in which copper materials and copper metallurgy products held the largest share in 2014 (15.36%). Electrolytically refined copper in the form of cathodes and ingots with Cu contents ranging from 99.3 to 99.9% was the main exported product. Silver was exported primarily as raw metal or semi-finished products.

Polish copper is exported mainly to Germany which imported from Poland 144,700 tonnes of copper in 2013. The United Kingdom is the leading importer of Polish silver of which 910 tonnes were delivered to that country.
