Prospecting, exploration and extraction of minerals from deposits are subject to licensing in Poland. The concession is granted by the Minister of the Environment for a term of minimum 3 years and maximum 50 years, unless the entrepreneur has applied for a shorter term (Geological and Mining Law of 9 June 2011 – Off. J. of 2015, Item 196, as amended).
There were four active rock salt extraction concessions in Poland as of 1 May 2016. Moreover, six concessions for the prospecting and exploration of rock salt deposits have been awarded.
