PanAfGeo 2. PGI-NRI geologists support geologists from the African Geological Surveys
Polish Geological Institute-National Research Institute (PGI-NRI) has been actively supporting geologists from African countries for a decade. Implementing the PanAfGeo project initiated by the EuroGeoSurveys (EGS), it organises training courses on geodiversity conservation and educates geologists on geology of mineral resources, geochemistry or geothermal geology.

In September 2023, the Polish Geological Institute-National Research Institute (PGI-NRI) together with the NORCE Norwegian Research Centre (NORCE) launched a project called Optimization of Shallow Geothermal Energy Resources for Green Transition (OptiSGE), financed by the Fund for Bilateral Relations, European Economic Area (EEA) Financial Mechanism 2014-2021, and the Norwegian Financial Mechanism 2014–2021.
The PGI-NRI employee a member of the UN Commission on the Limits of the Continental Shelf
Dr Michał Tomczak, an employee of the Polish Geological Institute-NRI, has been elected as a member of the United Nations Commission on the Limits of the Continental Shelf.
Launching geological cooperation with Vietnam
On 4–11 November 2023, a delegation from the PGI-NRI attended a scientific conference in Hanoi, Vietnam, under the theme 'New Opening', related to the intensification of cooperation in the field of geology.
