The latest edition of “The balance of mineral resources deposits in Poland” is available on-line. Polish Geological Institute-National Research Institute summarized the data on Poland’s mineral deposits from the last year. The publication presents information on almost 14 thousand documented deposits.
“The balance…” plays an important part in the area of mineral resources deposits protection and is a valuable data source for scheduling and making decisions regarding the special management. It also serves as the ground for the rational use of the domestic mineral raw materials base. The data collected in ”The balance…” represent valuable information for potential domestic and foreign investors who express interest in the development of sectors that are based on extraction and processing of raw materials.
The latest publication contains data on 13,767 domestic deposits. Traditionally, data are presented in the form of chapters within four raw materials groups. These groups are selected on the basis of the raw material usability as a mineral commodity. The data within the groups are presented by raw material type in the form of tables that are supplemented with succinct textual descriptions. Information is organized according to the administrative or – for hard coal, crude oil and natural gas – regional configuration. To meet viewers’ expectations, the current edition of “The balance…” – with reference to mineral resources deposits which are covered by mining ownership – contains information on resources broken down by particular exploration categories (A+B, C1, C2, D). Moreover, there is also detailed information on the amount of documented sub-economic resources presented.
“The balance…” was prepared solely by PGI-NRI as a task of National Geological Survey. Similarly to the previous editions it was published in June, in accordance with the provisions of the Geological and Mining Law adopted on 9 June 2011 (Official Journal of 2016, Item 1131, unified text, later reapproved).
The updated website Mineral resources of Poland, was launched alongside the printed version of the publication. “The balance...” and additional information about particular groups of mineral raw materials is available in PDF format. Moreover, to meet the expectation of ever growing number of recipients, we have published regularly updated vector data that enable visualization of spatial information about the deposits and mining areas/sites.
“The balance…” has been published for more than 60 years, since 1986 continually by PGI-NRI.
