  • Askar Beknazarov - Trade and Economic Counselor from the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Poland,
  • Maksud Isokov - Deputy Rector of the University of Geological Sciences,
  • Tulkin Nurmurodov - Deputy Rector of Navoi State Mining Institute.

Poland was represented by Piotr Dziadzio - Undersecretary of State, Poland’s Chief Geologist, Government Plenipotentiary for the Raw Materials Policy, together with representatives of the Ministry of Climate and Environment - Michał Nowosielski and Magdalena Gucwa-Rydelek. The conference was organized on behalf of PGI-NRI by Andrzej Głuszyński, Deputy Director for the Polish Geological Survey, Marta Banasiewicz, Professor Tetyana Solovey and Radomir Pachytel, Senior Geologist.

He also stressed that Uzbekistan is perceived by Poland as an important partner for cooperation in this regard. Additionally, he informed about the future signing of an agreement between the geological surveys of Poland (PGI-NRI) and Uzbekistan (The State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Geology and Mineral Resources), which was planned for December 2021.

Director Andrzej Głuszyński presented the scope of PGI-NRI activities, focusing on the main areas of interest for the Uzbek side - scientific and research cooperation and cooperation in exploration and prospecting of mineral deposits, with particular emphasis on metal ores. He focused on potential sectors of joint activities - deposit and economic geology, geoecology, environmental geochemistry, geochronology, geological heritage, exploration of critical and strategic resources, as well as laboratory research and scientific projects.

President Boris Islamov confirmed the willingness to establish cooperation and expressed hope for a quick signing of the agreement. At the same time, he introduced the Uzbek mining sector, which is based on the mining of gold, uranium and copper, also mentioning the newly implemented copper mining project by state-owned companies, which is expected to result in the creation of one of the largest mines in the world.
