zaj graduation 210x140We sincerely congratulate you and wish you continued academic success.

Aleksandra Kozłowska, Ph.D., obtained her master's degree in geology (stratigraphic-exploratory specialization) from the Faculty of Geology, University of Warsaw. Her Master's thesis was entitled "Bullion mineralization in the Udrynia region of the Suwałki massif (based on drill holes)" and was supervised by Associate Professor Eugenia Zimnoch.

She joined the Polish Geological Institute - National Research Institute in 1986 where she still works today. In 1986-1992 she worked on petrography of Precambrian magmatic and metamorphic rocks from the north-eastern Poland and participated in studies on mineral composition of schists from the Kudowa region.

Since 1991 she conducted petrographic, mineralogical and geochemical studies of Carboniferous sedimentary rocks in the north-western and central part of the Lublin Trough and Western Pomerania. In 2002, she defended her PhD thesis entitled: "Diagenesis of Upper Carboniferous Sandstones in the North-Western Part of the Lublin Trough", whose supervisor was Prof. Anna Maliszewska, PhD.

After receiving her Ph.D. she continued research on Carboniferous sediments from the Lublin Basin (central and south-eastern part), Western Pomerania and south-western Poland. Her scientific activities also included studies of Miocene sediments of the Carpathian Foredeep in Poland and Ukraine. Moreover, she worked on Cretaceous, Jurassic, Permian, Silurian, Ordovician and Ediacaran sediments. The aim of her research was the analysis of diagenetic processes, assessment of hydrocarbon potential and the possibility of CO2 storage in sediments.

Her research findings have been reported in about 60 publications and about 60 archival studies that she authored or co-authored.

She has implemented or co-implemented 66 projects, including: 27 statutory, 30 Polish Geological Survey, 2 international, and 7 Research Committee/Ministry of Science and Higher Education/National Science Center grants (in two she was a manager).

She received her habilitation after presenting a series of four thematically related publications entitled "Diagenesis of siderite rocks of the Middle Jurassic in Poland". "Diagenesis of siderite rocks of the Middle Jurassic in Poland". The aim of the research was detailed recognition of the mineral composition of siderite rocks and identification of conditions of siderite formation against the background of the history of diagenesis of Middle Jurassic sediments. The material came from 52 boreholes situated in the Polish Lowlands (Kujawy, Wielkopolska, Western Pomerania), in the north-eastern margin of the Holy Cross Mountains and in the region of Częstochowa.

Aleksandra Kozlowska, PhD, has participated in and co-organized many national and international conferences and symposia. She cooperated with researchers from foreign institutions in Germany, Angola and Ukraine and several Polish scientific and industrial institutions.

Between 2003 and 2021, she received three Special Awards from the Director of PGI-NRI, the Order of Merit for Polish Geology and the Gold Medal of the Polish Geological Institute, as well as the rank of a First Degree Mining Engineer and the rank of a Third Degree Mining Director.

She is a member of the Polish Mineralogical Society, the Clay Section of PTMin and the Polish Geological Society.

From 2013 to 2017 she was the Secretary of the Scientific Council of the Polish Geological Institute - National Research Institute. From 2017 to date, she has been part of the Scientific Council of PGI-PIB as an elected member and is a member of the Organizational and Economic Commission in this Council.
