wystawa szlakiem geologii w honkonguThe exhibition "On Geology’s Trail", prepared by the staff of the Polish Geological Institute-NRI in two language versions (Polish and English) has started an international tour. Thanks to it, Hong Kong residents can learn about places in Poland that are interesting in terms of tourism and geology.

On October 6, 2022, the Stephen Hui Geological Museum at the University of Hong Kong (HKU) held an opening ceremony for an exhibition entitled "On Geology’s Trail." The opening ceremony, held on the occasion of UNESCO's International Day of Biodiversity, was attended by the Consul General of the Republic of Poland in Hong Kong Dr. Alexander Dańda, Dean of HKU Professor Vivian Wing-Wah Yan, Head of the Department of Earth Sciences at HKU Dr. Man Hoi Lee and other guests representing the scientific world and consular posts of many countries.

“October 6th is an excellent opportunity to raise awareness about Earth science. Today is the International Day of Biodiversity, established in 2021 by UNESCO (at the initiative of Poland, the UK and Portugal). The purpose of establishing this holiday was to show the public the importance of inanimate nature. Today, together with our friends from the University of Hong Kong, we are drawing the attention of Hong Kong residents to the unique geological landscapes of Poland," said Consul General of the Republic of Poland Dr. Aleksaner Dańda while opening the exhibition.

Prepared by the Polish Geological Institute - NRI, the exhibition entitled "On Geology’s Trail" was previously exhibited on Krakowskie Przedmieście and Aleje Ujazdowskie in Warsaw, as well as in the Flower Market in Katowice. The exhibition will guide Hong Kong residents through the most unique corners of Poland.

Consisting of 22 map sheets, the "On Geology’s Trail " shows mountains, valleys, lakes, coastal cliffs, caves and ridges - diverse places that have one thing in common - they are all the result of geological processes.

We hope that the beauty of the presented landscapes and interesting descriptions explaining the origins of the various formations will contribute to the spread of knowledge about our country, becoming an incentive to visit Poland.
