grafika ilustracyjna"Przegląd Geologiczny", the journal of the Polish Geological Institute-NRI, has a new editor-in-chief. Prof. dr hab. Marek Jarosinski has been replaced by prof. dr hab. Stanisław Wołkowicz.

The new editor-in-chief has been affiliated with the Polish Geological Institute since 1980. For many years, he was the head of the departments dealing with the geology of mineral deposits. He was the co-founder and long-time head of the Department of Environmental Geology. He is an expert in the geology of uranium ore deposits, economic geology, natural and artificial radioactivity in the human environment and environmental geochemistry. As a hobby, he is interested in the history of geological sciences, and together with his wife dr Krystyna Wołkowicz, he owns one of the largest collections of old geological maps in Poland.

He has been working with African countries since 2006, initially as an aid project leader and now as one of the main contractors of the PanAfGeo Project. He has authored or co-authored more than 250 articles, chapters in monographs and published conference abstracts. He has been a member of the Scientific Council of PGI-NRI since 2011. He is a member of the Polish Geological Society, the Commission on the History of Science of the Polish Academy of Arts and Sciences, the International Commission on the History of Geological Sciences (INHIGEO) and the Geological Society of Africa (GSAf).

"Przegląd Geologiczny" is a monthly magazine addressed to the community of geologists and specialists in related scientific fields. It publishes peer-reviewed scientific articles, including review and methodological articles, information articles, economic, business, organisational, legal and geological administration materials, as well as memoirs, book reviews and accounts of historical and contemporary geological events. Special thematic volumes and those related to major geological conferences are also published. The publisher of “Przegląd Geologiczny” is the Polish Geological Institute - NRI.

The journal has been published continuously since 1953 - 848 issues have been published to date. As of January 2023, the journal is being published exclusively in digital format, offering the possibility of publishing articles of greater volume than before and containing more color figures.
