On 23 June 2025, the Sector Cyber Security Centre for Raw Materials and Geodiversity – ISAC SIG (Information Sharing and Analysis Center for Raw Materials and Geodiversity) was officially established at the headquarters of the Polish Geological Institute – National Research Institute (PGI-NRI) in Warsaw.
The agreement on its establishment was signed by three institutions: Polish Geological Institute – NRI, the Higher Mining Office (WUG) and the Mineral and Energy Economy Research Institute of the Polish Academy of Sciences (IGSMiE PAN). The event was attended by Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Digitalisation and Government Plenipotentiary for Cyber Security – Krzysztof Gawkowski, PhD, and Deputy Minister of Climate and Environment, Chief National Geologist – Professor Krzysztof Galos.
The ISAC SIG was established as a joint initiative of public institutions, industry and the academic community. The centre is permanent and institutional in nature. Its mission is to build an integrated platform for information sharing, early warning of threats and support of digital resilience of the raw materials sector. The initiative focuses on the protection of industrial OT/IT systems, incident analysis, the development of technical and strategic competences, and the use of artificial intelligence tools and digital twins for risk modelling.

The establishment of the ISAC SIG is a continuation of activities undertaken since 2022 as part of practical red team/blue team exercises and the CyberRange or Silesian CyberSecurity Hub projects. The centre is embedded in the real operational context of the natural resources sector, with a particular focus on the needs of industrial regions such as the Śląskie Voivodship. In this context, digital security and infrastructure resilience are key to the success of economic transformation.
