The meeting focused on the Institute’s activities, with particular attention to issues related to critical raw materials and the potential for developing hydrogen resources.

The Polish side was represented by experts from the Raw Materials Policy Department, the Economic Geology and Reserves Assessment Department, the Regional and Deposit Geology Department, and the International Cooperation Division of PIG-NRI, as well as the Department of Geology at the Ministry of Climate and Environment.

During the meeting, the key areas of PGI-NRI’s activities were presented, including the work of the national geological survey in identifying the resource potential of critical raw materials in Poland, activities supporting the State’s raw materials policy, and work arising directly from the implementation of the European Critical Raw Materials Act.

Staff from the Institute also presented PGI-NRI’s research capabilities and analytical potential.

The Dutch delegation was particularly interested in PGI-NRI’s work on the exploration of critical raw materials in mining waste and the search for hydrogen in Poland, including its potential occurrence in natural gas deposits.

The presentations served as a starting point for an exchange of experiences and discussions on the challenges facing European Union member states regarding the exploration of critical raw materials and the monitoring of their supply chains. The latter area was identified as one of the most promising opportunities for further Polish-Dutch cooperation.
