1 PhD position available in the GeoPlanet Doctoral School, Polish Geological Institute - NRI.
We are looking for a doctoral student for the GeoPlanet Doctoral School to carry out a research project: "ReBaltic: Reconstructing the Late Quaternary Evolution of the Southern Baltic Coastal Zone from a Unique Sedimentary Archive in the Żarnowiecka Tunnel Valley” funded by the National Science Centre.
Recruitment to the GeoPlanet Doctoral School is a two-stage process carried out as a competition open for international applicants. The recruitment rules are presented as an overview in the Recruitment tab and in details in pdf Recruitment rules (123 KB) . Applicants are expected to have an aptitude for research and a good command of both written and spoken English. The candidate applying to the GeoPlanet Doctoral School needs to hold a master's degree, a master's degree in engineering or an equivalent degree.

Requirements:
- MSc degree in Earth and Environmental sciences discipline;
- Background in pollen and/or diatom and/or sedimentological analysis;
- Experience in conducting geological field work;
- High degree of motivation, communicativeness and creativity;
- Ability to work both independently and in a team;
- Proficiency in spoken and written English.
Valuable skills:
- Basic skills in numerical methods and scientific computing;
- Experience in scientific writing (authorship of an abstract or a publication);
- Background in geochemistry is advantage;
- Category B driving licenses.
Duties:
- The main tasks include:
- fieldwork in Poland,
- field data description and interpretation,
- pollen, diatom and sedimentological analysis; - Participation in doctoral studies organized by the Doctoral School Geoplanet of PGI-NRI;
- Oral and poster presentations during local and international conferences;
- Preparation of scientific manuscripts and periodic reports.
