Resource and energy policies debated at the Ministry of Energy

A meeting of the Tripartite Trade Teams for the Social Security of Hard Coal and Lignite Miners was held on July 11th, 2017 at the Ministry of Energy.

During the meeting, the issues of hard coal and lignite extraction concessions and updating the Poland’s energy policy were discussed. Professor Mariusz Orion Jędrysek, Chief Geologist of Poland and Deputy Minister of the Environment, and Mr. Grzegorz Tobiszewski, Deputy Minister of Energy, were among the meeting participants.

- When identifying the key energy development directions we should be driven primarily by security concerns and by economic interest of our country and of our citizens – Deputy Minister Tobiszowski highlighted and added that mining is now and will remain in the future the core of the Poland’s energy mix.

Professor Jędrysek, Chief Geologist of Poland and Government Plenipotentiary for National Resource Policy, has announced that a package of solutions for the coal and lignite mining concessions is to be presented by September 15th, 2017. The other topic discussed during the meeting was the removal of existing legislative barriers so as to streamline the process of granting new or extending existing concessions.

A sub-team for the development of a list of strategic deposits is to be established as part of Resource Policy Team.

Tripartite Trade Teams’ meetings are attended by central government representatives, mining and energy sector employers’ representatives, as well by the social party represented by trade union leaders from the mining industry.
