Poland’s mineral reserves as of 31 December 2016

The latest edition of Poland’s Mineral Reserves (PMR) is available on-line. In this document, Polish Geological Institute – National Research Institute has summarised the data on mineral deposits that have accrued in the past year.

PMR provides information on 14 thousands proven mineral deposits. The document is a significant contribution to the protection of mineral resources and a source of data that are required for planning and spatial management decisions. PMR is the basis for reasonable use of domestic mineral resources. Data collected therein constitute a knowledge base for both Polish and international investors who express an interest in the development of mineral resource extraction and processing industries.

The latest edition of PMR includes data on 13 767 domestic mineral deposits. As in previous editions, the data on proven reserves have been presented by type and intended use of the mineable along with a succinct description. In response to recipients’ requests, mineable deposits under mining ownership are presented by resource proving category (A+B, C1, C2, D).

Moreover, detailed information on the size of non-economic reserves is presented in the document.

The Polish Geological Institute prepared the PMR by its own efforts as a task of Polish Geological Survey. Like in the previous years, the document has been published in June, as required by the provisions of Geological Law of 9 June 2011 (2016 Off. Journal Item 1131, as amended).

The KDF has been published in PDF format at the updated Surowce mineralne Polski website, along with supplementary information on particular groups of resources and vector data that are updated on an ongoing basis. The latter enable visualisation of spatial data on the proven mineral deposits and mining areas/sites. Poland’s Mineral Reserves have been published annually for the past 60 years. PGI-NRI has published the document continuously since 1986.
