During work in an active red sandstone quarry near Nowa Ruda, foot and tail prints of an amphibian from 300 million years ago were found. The results were published in the journal Biology Letters.

grafika ilustracyjnaOn May 7-10, 2024, employees of the Upper Silesian Branch of PGI-NRI in Sosnowiec stayed in Oviedo, Spain, where they took part in a meeting of REM project partners and the European Coal in Transition workshops: Rising like a phoenix, organised by EURACOAL and the European Research Executive Agency (REA).

grafika ilustracyjnaOn 6-7 of May 2024, a meeting took place at the headquarters of the Institute of Geology and Mining in Madrid (Instituto Geológico y Minero de España), in its role as the Spanish Geological Survey, between representatives of a team dedicated to the exploration of the ocean floor and the identification and recognition of polymetallic minerals, including primarily hydrothermal systems and associated massive sulphides, as well as cobalt-bearing intrusions occurring on seamounts and polymetallic concretions from abyssal plains.

rotterdamenThe Geospatial World Forum 2024, entitled Geospatial transition: powering the world economy, was held in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, on May 13-16, 2024. The Polish Geological Institute-NRI was represented by two participants from the Department of Compositional and Economic Geology: dr Katarzyna Derkowska and mgr inż. Anna Januszewska.
