Lublin amber
It is no longer the Baltic coast, nor the Vistula delta, but the Lublin region that is the most promising area for amber mining in Poland. According to The Balance of Mineral Deposits in Poland as of 31.12.2020, out of almost 3581 tons of identified national resources of amber, a little more than 98% can be found in the Lublin region. Preliminary forecasts indicate that it may be much more - even 22 thousand tons. These are the conclusions of the "Balance of prospective mineral resources in Poland as of 31.12.2018", made by specialists from the National Geological Institute - NRI.
The Council of Ministers has adopted the National Raw Materials Policy
On March 1, 2022, the Council of Ministers approved a resolution on the adoption of the "National Raw Materials Policy" (NRMP), submitted by the Government Plenipotentiary for the National Raw Materials Policy. The main objective of the document is to ensure the country's raw material security.
New geological atlas of selected lignite deposits
The Polish Geological Survey has published the first volume of the Geological Atlas of Selected Lignite Deposits in Poland (Western and Wielkopolska Region), containing detailed information on 31 most significant deposit objects.
PGI-NRI has evaluated the geothermal potential of nearly 80 municipalities
Thermal waters are a valuable resource used in many sectors of the country’s economy, which enjoy growing interest from many investors, including the local government. It is evidenced by, among others, the response from wójts, mayors and presidents to the action taken by the Polish Geological Institute - National Research Institute (PGI-NRI) in cooperation with the Ministry of Climate and Environment and the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management, consisting of making available assessments on the volume of geothermal potential in individual municipalities.
