The Upper Silesian Branch of PGI-NRI in Sosnowiec at the international conference ‘European Coal in Transition’
On 15 May 2025, the Institute of Heritage and Dialogue – Łaźnia Moszczenica in Jastrzębie-Zdrój, also known as ‘Carbonarium’, hosted an international conference entitled ‘European Coal in Transition: From an Industrial Legend to Cutting-Edge Research for the Future’. The event was dedicated to the future of coal regions in the context of just transition and sustainable development. The conference brought together decision-makers from the European Commission, ministers, parliamentarians, representatives of local authorities, the mining sector, scientists and project partners from across the European Union.
PGI-NRI at the anniversary conference of the Geoscience Information Consortium (GIC) in Copenhagen
On 5–8 May 2025, Copenhagen hosted the anniversary conference of the Geoscience Information Consortium (GIC), an international consortium of geological services and institutions from around the world. The main objective of the GIC is to exchange experiences in the field of geological system development strategies and geoinformation in the broadest sense.
PGI-NRI employee co-author of an article in the prestigious Earth-Science Reviews journal
At the end of April 2025, the prestigious journal Earth-Science Reviews published an article resulting from international and interdisciplinary research collaboration funded by the National Science Centre. The paper, entitled ‘A review of storms and marine coastal flooding in the Baltic Sea – Insights from instrumental, historical and sedimentary record’, presents an analysis of over 7,000 years of storm and marine flooding history in the Baltic Sea.
Geologists from PGI-NRI at the 21st CETEG conference in Ore Mountains, Czech Republic
From 23 to 26 April 2025, the 21st edition of the regular Meeting of the Central European Tectonic Studies Groups (CETEG) conference was held in Nové Hamry, in the Czech part of Ore Mountains (in Czech: Krušné Hory).
