More than just shales
The latest research methods are likely to contribute significantly to the discovery of new oil and gas reservoirs across Poland. Specialists from Polish Geological Institute – NRI prepare a research project that will help to locate secondary conventional oil and gas reservoirs which are indirectly associated with shale gas and shale oil.
Professor Mariusz Orion Jędrysek appointed as Chief Geologist of Poland
Professor Mariusz Orion Jędrysek, PhD, was appointed as Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of the Environment and as Chief Geologist of Poland. Prime Minister Ms. Beata Szydło conferred on him these responsibilities on 19 November 2015. Professor Jędrysek assumes that post for the second time: he has earlier served as Poland's Chief Geologist from 2005 to 2007.
Polish-Japan session on the history of geological sciences in Siberia and East Asia
Within a period of eight months from its establishment, the Polish Geological Society Section of History of Geological Sciences organized a series of three successful meetings. The last was a Polish-Japan session devoted to pioneers who laid foundations for modern geology in Siberia and East Asia. Declarations of the Japanese delegation show that this joint session may be the start of cooperation between our researchers specializing in the history of our discipline.
Polish shales in Brussels – the Conference: Unconventional hydrocarbons - the Polish experience in the European dimension
