Critical raw materials and new partnerships: PGI-NRI participation in the EU economic mission to Australia
In October 2025, representatives of the Polish Geological Institute – National Research Institute, Joanna Roszkowska-Remin from the Raw Materials Policy Department and Paweł Urbański from the Regional and Deposit Geology Department, joined the EU economic mission to Australia.
The new PGI-NRI digital repository provides access to the complete heritage of Polish geological cartography
We have launched a modern digital repository, which for the first time brings together comprehensive resources of Polish geological cartography in one place. Over a century of work by Polish cartographers – and their foreign colleagues – has resulted in a collection of over 30,000 cartographic products, now easy to search, described with rich metadata and available online.
PGI-NRI participation in the conference ‘Marine Geology: Marginal Seas – Past and Future’ in China
On 14–18 October 2025, an international scientific conference entitled ‘Marine Geology: Marginal Seas – Past and Future’ was held in Guangzhou, China, attended by a delegation from the Polish Geological Institute – National Research Institute, consisting of dr Wojciech Jegliński, dr hab. Grzegorz Uścinowicz and dr hab. Karol Zglinicki.
Meeting of the MREG EuroGeoSurveys expert group and the GSEU project at PGI-NRI
On 21–22 October, the headquarters of the Polish Geological Institute hosted meetings of the EuroGeoSurveys expert group – MREG (Mineral Resources Expert Group) and the GSEU (Geological Service for Europe) project. In the following days, the participants had the opportunity to take part in a field trip, during which they visited the salt mine in Kłodawa, the PGI-NRI warehouse in Leszcze, and the Rudna copper and silver mine in the KGHM Polska Miedź S.A. deposit area.
