The latest edition of “The balance of mineral resources deposits in Poland” (in Polish) is available online. In the publication Polish Geological Institute-National Research Institute (PGI-NRI) presented data on over 15 thousand mineral raw materials deposits documented in Poland as of 31.12.2024.
Active role of PGI-NRI within the Polish Presidency of the Council of the EU
On 5–8 May 2020, a series of conferences on raw materials was held in Kraków as part of the Polish Presidency of the Council of the European Union. The events were organised by the European Commission and the Ministry of Climate and Environment (MKiŚ, or Ministerstwo Klimatu i Środowiska in Polish).
PGI-NRI at Arminera 2025: Polish-Argentinian cooperation in the mining sector
On 20-22 May 2025, the Polish Geological Institute – National Research Institute (PGI-NRI) took part in the Arminera International Mining Industry Fair in Buenos Aires. In accordance with the decision of the recruitment committee for the Polish National Stand, organised by the Polish Investment and Trade Agency, PGI-NRI was qualified as a participant of the fair with access to B2B space as a partner organisation.
The Upper Silesian Branch of PGI-NRI in Sosnowiec at the international conference ‘European Coal in Transition’
On 15 May 2025, the Institute of Heritage and Dialogue – Łaźnia Moszczenica in Jastrzębie-Zdrój, also known as ‘Carbonarium’, hosted an international conference entitled ‘European Coal in Transition: From an Industrial Legend to Cutting-Edge Research for the Future’. The event was dedicated to the future of coal regions in the context of just transition and sustainable development. The conference brought together decision-makers from the European Commission, ministers, parliamentarians, representatives of local authorities, the mining sector, scientists and project partners from across the European Union.
