The PGI-NRI at Seabed Minerals 2026
A conference on deep-sea deposits – Seabed Minerals (formerly DeepSeaMinerals) – took place in Bergen (Norway) from 24 to 26 March 2026. The event, organised for the fifth time, brought together representatives from the scientific community, exploration and service companies, and public authorities – both Norwegian and international – with an interest in the exploration and exploitation of deep-sea polymetallic deposits.

The Director of the Polish Geological Institute – National Research Institute (PGI-NRI), Prof. Krzysztof Szamałek and the Deputy Director for Research and Research Support at the State Geological Service, Prof. Stanisław Mikulski took part in a meeting with a delegation from the Parliamentary Group of the State Great Khural of Mongolia and representatives of Mongolian industry.

The PGI-NRI has maintained a high level of scientific activity for many years, as evidenced, among other things, by the Institute’s staff’s publications in 2025. In total, they have published 220 academic papers, including articles in prestigious international journals as well as publications in national and industry journals.
